Practical | Immediate Experience Zine
Another 16-page zine which is an accumulation of really important quotes, outlooks, and sayings that I think sum up this idea of being subversively creative. They come from an array of sources, from texts I've read (e.g. Marshall McLuhan) as well as word combinations I've made up.
It's not meant to make complete sense, but essentially it's about carving out your own space that you (and your work) can exist in. By defining this environment for yourself, you are free to create and express as you please because it has been made with your own values in mind. It also touches on the idea that artists are meant to do this, as 'counter-situations created by artists'.
Practical | Deconstruct Zine
A 16-page zine created as a compilation of my deconstructed collage work. I wanted the zine to act as a vessel to carry the images, rather than just being in a sketchbook.
When looking at the definition of 'deconstruct' (on the inside pages) it essentially means to take something apart as a way of reinterpreting it. I think this is what these collages did, and housing them all in this publication gives them a new environment to exist in.

Practical | "Posters"
Main body of large-scale "poster" images (excluding sketchbook and digital work).
Started off based on the subject of messages, communicating, transmitting those messages, trying to reach out.
Made with collage, drawing, painting. The text has came from a range of sources, which only helps to confuse the message further which I enjoy. The image-based examples began as things for someone viewing them to decode, and read into.
By the end, they became visual representations of my research, thoughts, and further reading - mainly quotes and statements that have left an impact on me and informed what I'm doing, as well as furthering my ideas and practice of what I've came to understand as "subversion" and the ethos that goes hand-in-hand with this approach.
Practical | Further Deconstructions
Further tests with cutting up and rearranging larger works, ending up with new compositions and images.

Project Map
Here is a map of my entire project to-date. Showing the research points that I started off with, and ending on the most recent findings. Annotations show the themes and questions that came up with each, and track how the project changed over time.
