COP 3 | Ideas & Tutorial

Ideas / Things to Look at

• Public engagement through art and design
• Visual information and how it's displayed (infographics?)

• Distribution of information (techniques e.g. campaigns, public distribution methods, physically, digitally, using the internet as an accessible source)• How much information needs to be on a piece of design for it to communicate well?

• The poster as a platform (where art meets information)

"Form following function" - how can these be pushed, switched, etc...

• Accessible art and design (public art, organisations that push the arts, schemes, art for everyone, integrating this into everyday life?)

Visual References

• Polish posters

• Museum branding and identity

• Exhibition catalogs and posters, cultural event posters

• Universal symbols/pictograms? (House in the World, Tobias Gutmann)

Images that transcend language, words, universally recognised...

Practical Ideas

• Visual investigation through posters. Variations on an idea (reducing, increasing the information and content to see how it effects communicative power?) Creating multiples, taking them to people and asking "which works best?"
• Visual identity / printed matter for an existing cultural institution - links to 505 work..

↪ Posters, fictitious events, exhibition catalogs, learning resources, campaign...

• A public art proposal of some sort?
