Here are the feedback forms from today's peer review. It was good to get feedback from people that hadn't seen my project up until now. I think parts of my intentions for the project confused people, which isn't a bad thing but it threw me off slightly.
This mainly stemmed from the use of the term 'subversion' along side the term 'visual communication'. What I'm setting out to do, is communicate but in a subversive way. This means using unusual methods of communication, non-direct, non-literal themes and subjects, cryptic imagery, often abstract threads of thought and content that the viewer has to work with (and they may not even take anything away from it!)

I think it's important that I say, I'm still communicating just not in an easy-to-follow, A to B sort of way. Things are still being said within the artefacts I'm making.
When it comes to putting together the essay, I will lay down solid definitions of what I am interpreting this form of subversion as. I think the collages and prototype zines I've put together do communicate something, even if it's not initially clear to viewers.
I believe the focus on communication is still there, I'm just seeing how far I can push that idea.
This is a collage I made, but I've highlighted parts that mean certain things. At a first glance it just looks like a very messy collage. But there are references and hints towards the Teen Age Message, an interstellar transmission project from Russia in 2001. It's sort of meta, I'm communicating about an instance of communication that took place at some point in history.
I will definitely make it my goal to clearly define subversion for myself and my project, and justify my use of the term and how it's informing my work.
